Project description
Above mentioned Ministry provides Germany-wide training courses in different disciplines. One field of activity is disaster risk. The training course on hazards and disaster risk reduction is split in two sections: (Part one) Hydrological risk assessment with disaster risk mitigation and (part two) emergency preparedness and dam safety. It is carried out once a year and aims to train participants in the assessment of extreme flood events and how to prepare for them. The goal is to explain the origin and development of extreme events and to teach design concepts incorporating risk and how to deal with uncertainties and remaining risks. Participants come from state authorities, consulting companies, municipalities, etc. and have different backgrounds like civil servants, civil engineering, urban planning, public administration, procurement, operators of water infrastructure.
